INSPECTION

Just as you submit your car for a MOT or servicing at regular intervals, your electrical installations, including circuits, wiring, connections and other associated elements, all need periodically inspecting and testing to prevent electrically linked fires, electrocution or other electrical related injuries.

Electrical testing and inspection fall under a business owners’ inherent duty to protect their employees according to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, which covers, amongst many other things, electrical safety. As a domestic property owner or homeowner, it goes without saying that you want your tenants or family to be safeguarded against electrical hazards, so electrical testing by a registered organisation, such as our electricians at Green View Projects, is in your best interests.

As registered competent people, our electricians carry out all the required electrical testing and inspections following every project we carry out. We supply you, or the individual ordering the electrical work, with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which replaced the Periodic Inspection Report in 2012. The type of testing that an EICR entails is often called fixed wire testing.

The paperwork we provide you with is a BS 7671- the British Standards for Requirements for Electrical Installations electrical installation certificate and we also ensure a copy of the Building Regulations compliance certificate is given to a property’s occupier and to the building control body within 30 days of the electrical work being carried out. This is to ensure that all our work adheres to Electrical Safety- Dwellings Approved Document Part P.

EICR

To be able to issue your premises with an EICR, our experienced and accredited team begin by visually checking each circuit’s cable and parts, such as light switches and sockets, for general wear and tear as well as any compatibility with the protective device supplying them.

After the initial visual check, we execute a range of tests on the wiring of each individual circuit in your property’s network to find out if they are appropriately wired and safe for continued use. These electrical inspections will reveal if the incoming power supply is adequate, if equipment is failing and highlight any other potential defects. It is worth noting that power will be restricted within your building while we undertake electrical testing. The electrical inspection will involve turning off the electricity to your fuse box so we can inspect it fully.

Defect codes are given to signify the degree of seriousness of any faults found during inspections.

After a site visit our team can advise you as to how long electrical testing and inspections can take. If your organisation is a school, college, university or hospital, all our staff are DBS (formerly CRB) checked for your peace of mind.

Our experienced electricians have a keen eye for detail and will ensure your installation is subtle and discreet, with all wires concealed and tucked away.
